Cerro Uritorco

Capilla del Monte, Argentina

In 1986 a burnt mark made a town famous. Forty years on, its people still watch the sky.

They still argue about what happened.

The story here

Cerro Uritorco

The mountain above the town.

Cerro Uritorco rises over Capilla del Monte. People climb it to watch the sky, and many say they have seen lights go into it.

In the early 1980s a teacher drove small groups to Los Terrones at night. He spoke of a hidden city under the mountain, and called it ERKS.

Today guides lead night walks on the hills, and visitors wait for the lights.

Leesa's first night

Her first night

"There came the lights right at us."

Leesa went with a group of five people up Uritorco. They waited and watched the sky, and saw only stars. Then they lay down, held hands and meditated for about 45 minutes.

When they sat up, the lights came right at them, disappeared, came back, and danced. "I saw them myself," she says.

No camera filmed that night. This is her account, in her own words.
